As indicated in the name, the marathon's route takes in two oceans, the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, which meet at a point fluctuating between Cape Agulhas and Cape Point. It winds along the seaboard, along an astoundingly beautiful route which, it is widely agreed, makes it among the most scenic marathons, if not the most scenic, in the world.
